What you're actually booking
The south is the green, dramatic half of Mauritius: an extinct crater in the middle of the island, a sacred crater lake ringed by Hindu statues, a rainforest national park and the strange dunes of Chamarel where the earth really does come out of the ground in seven colours.
We drive it as a loop with a private or small-group vehicle, stopping wherever the light is good. The Chamarel waterfall drops a hundred metres in a single fall; the Black River Gorges viewpoint gives you the whole southern rainforest in one frame.
We finish on the beach — a proper end to the day rather than a rushed drive home. Lunch, drinks and any entrance tickets along the way are pay-as-you-go: you choose what you want and settle it on the day.
